Honesty in Writing a Story
Three Truths And a Lie
Or why everyone needs to be honest at all times.
There is a method to my madness, so to speak. I’m saying what I do because I feel it’s especially important to be honest, even more so with the way we write our stories. Allow me to show what I mean with a little game I call “Three Truths and a Lie.”
The next paragraph will have four sentences that I want you to determine which of them is the truth or a lie. As soon as I finish the paragraph, I will give it a few days before I talk about the correct answer to which of those is the lie. However, I doubt I will have finished talking about what I want to say today, so there’s that.
I love eating all my vegetables. My love of anime has influenced the writing that I’ve done in life. Much of my writing in my life has been fan fiction of any sort. I love playing the Final Fantasy franchise of video games.
With all that out of the way, allow me to get to the point I was hoping to make. I take it you know how they say that honesty is the best policy, right? Well, it really is, I’ll be upfront about that.
However, sometimes you want your characters to lie about things to your readers… well, if only to keep the suspense of what the outcome is supposed to be…
