I Started Writing On Vocal

Is this business venture worth the trouble?

Okay, to give everyone the rundown on what’s going on, I joined Vocal last night in the Pacific Northwest. I had heard for quite a while that they had some great perks for writers on the platform, like cash prizes for writing contest entries. I would love to earn a lot of money for winning even one contest… supposing I don’t become a gambler about it, anyway.

In terms of what I intend to get out of this, I joined the platform to see about telling a story about my dad, who had gotten the focus of a contest all about dads. Unfortunately, that story has not gotten published as of this time, sadly. I hope it publishes soon enough, mind you, but that’s a far-off dream.

However, while that was my primary motivation to write for Vocal, I took the plunge and submitted a second post for them earlier today. I submitted a contest entry for their Campfire Ghost Story contest, which even got published within half an hour of the submission. Is there a better time of day to submit than others?

Personally, I’m glad I can write suitable pieces, but there’s a limit on what sort of stupidity I can tolerate regarding publishing speeds. If there aren’t enough employees working to review all the content fast enough, then I can…
