I Decided to Be Brave About Writing

A lesson in what it takes to be a self-promoting author

So, over the current month of June 2023, I discovered that my highest-earning post was my longest post on here by far. I figured it had to do with the people who gave it claps and gave it a good read initially. Then I gave it some more thought. What was the overall purpose of my sharing this piece of info with everyone?

For those who don’t know, I’m a huge proponent of outlining a story before writing the first draft. It’s something I am quite proud of, at least if I say so myself. However, most of the time here on Medium, I haven’t outlined the stuff I submit for sharing. Quite a problem to have, I know, but what can I do about it? Well, as they say in Japan, sore wa shikata nai to omoimasu.

That translates to “I guess it can’t be helped” when I checked via Google Translate. I hope that makes sense.

Now, what do I have to say about my case of self-promotion? A lot. I’ll explain what I mean right now.
