2D Art Versus 3D Art?
Time to talk about Game Development for a change
Okay, let’s be real, here. I’m not just a writer, I’m also a game developer… at least in a part-time stance, anyway. If I wanted to be more of a game developer, though, I would need to spend more of my time working on games than I have so far in life.
What reason do I have to bring this up? I’m working on a game right now, but I have nothing like a proper team of developers working with me on it. This project is a one-person team thing I’m doing on the side of all the writing work I’m up to anywhere on the net… if you can believe it, anyway.
Why discuss the whole 2D versus 3D argument, though? Well, I’ll give it to you straight.
Many of my game development projects are in the realm of 2D, while I know that the vast majority of game developers are going into the whole 3D business of things. I’m reluctant to go into 3D for a lot of reasons, mind you, but the main reason is that I’m no good with the math required.
However, to get off the reluctance train of why I’m not interested so much in actual 3D game dev, I have to bring this up. I have a way to cheat the system, so to speak, and make 3D out of 2D art.
Hold on a second, you might say. Why are you talking about this craziness, you might ask?
